BeckRidge is a 501(C)3, federally recognized non-profit organization (38-2604504). We offer arts education and training as well as performance opportunities for all ages. While some regard the arts as "useless," we find them life affirming. Society often seems incapable of  seeing beyond the practical. Beauty is believed to be useless because we cannot measure its worth or practicality. Our lens on life is: nothing is of value unless it has practical use. Life must produce measurable results or be regarded as useless. "Art is one way we label everything humans do that cannot be explained in terms of usefulness.*" In fact, when artists can learn and share their creative being, the world is reminded there is more to life than what is practical or can be measured. Beauty has value and is a reminder that life is simply not meant to be used. No, in fact, the need to express creatively and know beauty are traits shared by the entire human population. The family portrait in your residence has no useful purpose yet when you look at it, it gives you such a beautiful sense of life. That Mother's Day bouquet has long since withered away but the person that gave it to you saw it as beautiful and you too shared that unmeasurable sense of beauty. Creating unmeasurable and to some useless beauty is what we do at BeckRidge and we would truly welcome your support to continue doing it!
