We will use multi-level "scripts" where students (actors) "act" the parts of different characters to practice and perform a play. All plays include multiple reading stages and the "directors" assign students their character roles based on the knowledge of their grade level and reading skills.
|
Because all "actors" read at their appropriate level, they can focus on oral expression and comprehension skills, which in turn builds their reading fluency. The "actors" are not aware that character parts correspond to reading stages, so "actors" interact with each other in a fun environment without knowing who is a more or less advanced reader.

Want to make an investment in the future of your child?

Since 1973, BeckRidge has been a part of the Plymouth-Canton community. Our foundation is built on education, not just performance. The "directors" include certified teachers and reading specialists. We promise fun, but our commitment is to help you provide the skills your children need to succeed today and in the future.
We offer two levels of Readers Theater: Kindergarten through Grade 3 - 5:00 - 6:00 PM Grade 4 through Grade 6 - 6:00 - 7:00 PM "Rehearsals" will take place at our Studio on Thursday evenings. Students can join the program at anytime throughout the year. "Actors" will prepare a number of "plays" during the months of October through May. As each play is completed, parents are strongly encouraged to attend a "performance." We want parents to witness and share in the growth of their children. Tuition is just $25 per month - payable at the first "rehearsal" of every month. We offer a 20% discount for siblings.. |
